TCN

Hey all,

Here is a news for you guys: There will be a band performing during
our intermission to continue creating the atmosphere of Taiwan. They
offered us earlier but we turned them down since we are still busy
practicing on our script. Now that we are more familiar with the
script, Esther and I think it would be a good idea to put them on.
Thanks to Jason who manages with the staff at Freud Playhouse, the
band will be able to join us at the rehearsal and performance. The
band is zealous about Taiwan and culture night, so let's welcome them
with our smile~~~~

Cheers,
Hannah

For emphasis -- we are in the Freud Auditorium for two whole days, this Saturday and Sunday, starting at 8AM each day.  We have a lot of work to do in the theater itself so I want everyone to get plenty of sleep/rest and be on time in the morning for those 2 days.  I also want to lay down a few ground rules to abide by as we will be working in a professional theater:

1. Be respectful of the technicians and other theater professionals we will be working with
2. No food or drink in the house or on stage -- keep them outside or in the dressing room areas.  Water is okay.
3. Wear closed-toe shoes (unless you're an actor and your costume says otherwise)
4. Be efficient and alert -- we need all the time we can get and having to delay the entire process because we're waiting on someone to finish up a phone call or otherwise is a definite no no.
5. Never say the name of the Scottish play while we're in the theater -- if you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry about it.

Last and above all -- HAVE FUN -- it's our moment in the spotlight.  Enjoy it.  I'll see you all soon!

P.S If you're wondering where Freud is, it's the theater north of Sculpture Garden in North Campus (it should say Macgowan Hall on the UCLA map)

TCN Rehearsal schedules!

so our show is 5/31! YAY
that's next Sunday, so here's how we're gonna do it.

This Thursday, 5/21, Cast is going to have full-rehearsal with no scripts. So make sure all lines are not only memorized, but also emotionally connected to your character and sound/look natural and real.

Choir will be coming to practice with us, so make sure we don't embarrass ourselves in front the great singers that will be accompanying us throughout the show. They have many parts as extras on stage, and they will burst out singing at many scenes, so we want to make sure everyone knows what it's really gonna be like when we go on stage.

Next tuesday, 5/26, will be the dress rehearsal for dance. so as in the previous email, if you're dancing, make sure you wear your dance costumes. And that includes the shoes you'll be dancing in.

Next Thursday, 5/28, we'll be having another full-rehearsal. Still at Tom Bradley at 7pm. By that time, we're going to have everything down and smooth.

Next Saturday, 5/30, the day before the show. We'll have all-day rehearsal and Freud playhouse. So Everyone, dance, actors, crew/backstage, choir will be there. We will run through it many times until we can recite every detail in our dreams. That's also when the technical stuff will be checked. Mics, lighting, spot-lights, music, props, background images.

Then Sunday 5/31, the day of the show. We'll again be coming together bright and early on that day. Awesome rehearsals with Costumes. We'll rehearse till late afternoon, then we'll break for people to do make-up, get dressed, eat dinner...etc.
Then at 7pm will be our show.
Then the AWESOME show!!
and after-party.

are we cool? mark your calendars, please. These are all mandatory if you care about our TCN. so unless you've got the Swine Flu, I will see every one of you there when you should be. =)

love,
Esther

Great practice tonight! additional info for future gatherings. please read and mark calendar!

Hi all,

For those of you who came tonight, the dance practice was great! Props to the guys, awesome everything! It looked really really nice. The girls, hot!! Make sure you are not shy, though. We're all family, let it all out! =)

Actors:
This Thursday will be cast rehearsal at Tom Bradley at 7pm Middle level room 218, same as today. There will be full rehearsal with no scripts. So make sure you know your lines, if not by heart, at least know what's appropriate to say. Understand the scenes you're in and the time flow of the story line.

Dancers (Including actors, too):
Love you guys! Great job. All we need now are just some fine tunes, clarity, and energy. We're doing dance next Tuesday same place, same time. Next week is week 8! only a week before actual TCN. so ahh~ XD If you have questions with how exactly the dance moves are, make sure you ask your friends or come ask Hannah and me before next Tuesday. We'll have individual small groups take turns dancing in front of everyone.

Crew:
William has already had a small prop-making meeting tonight, and the constructions of the props are starting. If you didn't come meet William tonight. Make sure you email him to see where he needs help. WE APPRECIATE EVERY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE! =)   William Wang onitsuki@gmail.com
